Food Galore!
Wednesday, October 11, 2006today, i was in a pretty "fed up" at work mode…
i ate at Chowking befoe going to work, since my shift starts at 1pm and i wake up at 10am, i took my lunch at 11am.
TOFU and BLACK GULAMAN, i was pretty full.
when we had to go to a training session by 1pm, we were told that P4P (pay for performance) was re-launched, it was a client-initiated incentive program. the good news was here was free FOOD. two waiter brought us TACOS and
C2 (iced tea brand, i take the lemon — yellow one) drinks. my team mates ate while listening to the trainor, i saved mine for later.
while training was going on, PANACOTTA (homemade by one of my team mates) was passed around. yes, it was delicious, had chocolate topping too! (the only decent picture on the web i could find was this one with strawberry syrup instead). after 5 minutes,
CHOCOLATE CRINKLES (dunno whee they came from) was being passed around –sweets again — ok, i grabbed one.
Turned out "later" was just 30 minutes or so, since the module we were being briefed on was pretty easy, something we already knew…and so, i ate again (tacos and the C2 iced tea). Hmn… pretty filled to the brim.
then there was work, meetings, and all that boring (hehe, kidding..normal is the word) stuff. 6pm came and it was our scheduled lunch. off to the mall, i bought SIOMAI from
GOLDILOCKS of which i ate 1 and half servings of rice from the pantry. …burp!…
not later, probably 15 minutes after lunch, there was the BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE! taddda! that was the best part! best i have tasted to date and it was (again) homemade by the mom of one of my team mates.
i was 110 lbs when i started work here roughly 2 years ago. now, am 165 lbs.
yeah right! no wonder i'm getting fat! hahaha.
Aftermath of Milenyo…
Tuesday, October 10, 2006 the following links could tell us a lot:
i was on my way to the office, commuting on a bus when typhoon Milenyo was lashing Metro Manila (12nn-1pm)…it was indeed scary. robinson's galleria lost parts o its roof. it was literally, raining inside the mall. I got in after pleading to go through the next building, our building, through the bridgeway. i took videos from my Nokia 6070 cellphone of the upper floors…seeing the sky from inside the mall, whew…..the reporter in me…
….in front of ur building, i caught a glimpse of the flood and the trees trying to resist the force of nature…until a gust of strong wind (whoosh!) made me go back the door, against my free will ("shit! tinangay ako papasok!" —overheard on the video i shot)….upstairs on the 26th floor, oprtaions floor (only call centers, besides the emergency teams of the country, i think, had to go to their jobs that day!)…the windows were rocking mad, you can feel the building move sideways as it tries to sway along the wind gust outside.
From the windows, we could see the helpless parked cars on the open spaces, easy targets for fying debris…broken windshield there, flying roof here…flying panties?! hahaha…somebody's got less an underwear today.
….we went on voluntary go home (VGH) at 9pm, instead of the regular out at 10pm and took the company van up to SM North. The ravages of the storm that just passed wasn't too obvious in the darkness. only 5% of Luzon had electricity, we were told. This was the first time, I have experienced this. This was confirmed by the news that said Milenyo was the strongest typhoon to visit the Philippines in 11 years….
Even in the darkness, I could see the silhouttes of lying trees. I had to take a bus, a jeep and a tricycle to get home after riding the company van. The darkness was scary. Fear of the unknown, literally. The night was spent w/o electricity and 36 hours since….still no electricity in our city (Malabon) as I was told earlier by my girlfriend through phone. 99% of the billboards I saw from monmumento to Ortigas were either flded prior to the lashing or torn during it.
Trees…oh, they were the helpless victims. A tree I fondly called "Makisig" who used to stand in front of Malabon citisquare was not spared. Trees who were too big, you would think they would survive, were either uprooted or had shed not mere leaves, but their branches. You would see a tree lying on the road almost every 50 meters.
Bad news of the aftermath surface one by one…still. I will be going on off for the next two days, but I will not certainly enjoy it. No electricity, no DVD marathons for me on Sat and Sun - my days-off (first time it'll e a weekend, –how ironic!). But I guess, I am lucky and I sure am thankful. As entertainment would be the last item on the concern list of those who were affected or who have lost loved ones.
Charge this again to experience, an account worth more than millions in anybody's book.
p.s. 10/02/06, 9:40pm
electricity was restored earlier at 3:30pm (as i was told, i was @work) –4 days and 4 nights since it went out at 1 pm last friday in our place in Longos, Malabon City… it's monday now (98 adn 1/2 hours to be exact) , rumors i heard were that Meralco transformers were stolen, so it took longer to restore power than in most areas. Irritating how thieves would take advantage even of nature already wreaking havoc…humans, sheesh!

i won!! i won!!
i like joining contests…
and it doesn't hurt to win 'em too!
although i don't win often, i try hard to do so every now and then and oh well…succeed!
i'll post my winning moments here…wheter it be personal triumphs of the human spirit or material acquisitions….HOORAY!
"flashback" — 09/29/06 — i called RX 93.1 Monter Radio FM (using my cellphone at 7AM), talked to DJ Chico Garcia (of the Morning Rush), was asked what was my unbelievable experience, to which i stated my experiences post-Milenyo, going home at 12:30AM, after the storm, dark and dangerous when everybody's tucked in to bed…and for that i won 5 packs of Green Teazz — the tea with a fizz!; according to him and 5 invites for the its launch party on friday, oct.6.
"claimed" — 10/09/06 — i forgot all about claiming my prize, the party was last friday, although i couldn't have come, it would have been cool giving out those tickets to my band-hungry gimikero/ra team mates..sheesh…oh well! i got 5 bottls of Green Teazz in a Universal Robina plastic bag (the cola flavored ones), gave 'em away, left one for me…kewl!
"finally" – 10/10/06 – i won $25 worth of GCs in a raffle for POSE (cuctomer survey) performers for the month of September! my stats have been passing since May, but i only won recently. Converted to P1,300 worth of Robinson's Gift Certificates that i can use in their grocery, Handyman, and dept. store. i paln to buy a CD/DVD plastic box (keeper) and of course, the much awaited rechargable batteries and harger for my mp3 player. hmn.that's just P500 worth, still have 800, most probably will go to the paint to be used this coming Nov.1 (All Saints Day). Oh! and the GCs come with a certificate of reognition of course!
"lucky coins" — 09/sometime/06 – about more than a month ago, i got really lucky in playing Galaxy in Tom's World (an amusement center/arcade arena, Robinson's Galleria Branch). Galaxy, for you info is a game where you put in tokens (P5 each) on to slots (any which one) and then the coinsshold it brush each other to the extent that you want them to drop into a bunch of coins till get get bumped into the collecting slot (where you get the coins you win, if any). it also gives you a chance to electronically (auto-stop) spin ala-Snakes and Ladders, and when you get to place the light on the JP (the Jackpot), the circling train (with 5 cabins filled with 50 coins each) will drop off it's contents (from 1-5 cabins, which is also luck of the draw) to your bunch o'coins, therebay multiplying the chances of coins falling into the winners slot. anyway, you gotta see it to enjoy it more, better yet play it! it's get pretty addicting. last time i won P500 worth of coins.
"twice" — 11/10/06 – and…lightning did strike twice! last week, i won P860 worth of coins (172 tokens) from my staring capital (yeah!) of P300. too bad, you are not allowed to sell tokens to fellow players (lest you have a conflict of interest with their "business"). spent 24 tokens that same afternoon, trying to get a stuffed toy that i well…didn't get from the pocket lifter! and when i handed an office mate 3 coins as "balato", guess what? she got the toy, darn! fine by me, she has 2-yr. old kid anyway, hehe.
until my next conquest….
Star Encounters
star-struck? not really…
doing office in Ortigas Center (Pasig City, Philippines) has made me see movie stars, starlets, DJs, basketball players and stars in their own right…every now and then…i'll update this post…put 'em in this portion…as we go along…
for the meantime here are some i have seen…
Rica Peralejo and
Ryan Agoncillo –doing a show @d fooodcourt for a movie promo.
Rommel Adducul –PBA (Ginebra-my fave team) player, he was tall, oh my! just walking by Pizza Hut Bistro.
Anne Curtis –cutie, she was with an "alalay" choosing silver bracelets and trinkets from Cubes.
Ricardo Cepeda 10/10 /06 - saw him (ex-Husband of Snooky Serna) on the bridge (coming from the mall-going to my building)..he was biting his nails while walking…yuck..th at's why he's an E"X"!
